Hugo is a client of one of CAPDA’s Tanzanian partner organisations. When we first met him, he was living in an old shed attached to his family home.
His Down’s syndrome meant that he was considered a burden and an unproductive member of the community.
Through CAPDA’s goat project Hugo learnt to tend and milk goats, and he has successfully maintained his herd of five goats for four years.
The income he receives from selling milk has allowed him to gain a basic level of financial independence, as well as the respect of his family and community.
